2017 Show

2nd Annual Show, Sat 2 Sep 2017

This year we were very lucky with the weather. Warm and sunny all day. There was no need for marquees. A selection of photos from the day.

The meeting hut – submitting entry forms

Arranging the show tables. The potato category was popular.

Deliberating over the cakes. The coffee sponge (on right) took 1st prize – moist and full of flavour. Apple cake came 2nd. Apple cake was made with apples from the allotment orchard.

Some handsome carrots next to an array of beans. A new variety of bean entered this year. A flat bean popular in Chinese cuisine. First plate just behind the single long carrot.

Serious deliberations. The beetroot are posing for the judges. It’s a beauty pageant after all.

Arranging produce on the tables. Choosing the most uniform and shapely potatoes whilst three shapely and uniform beetroot look on.

The mutant tomato was a clear winner in the Ugliest Vegetable category

Happy plot holders showing off their winning entries. Onions: 1st prize, Carrot: Runner up in ugliest vegetable category, Coffee cake and Strawberry/Rhubarb jam: 1st prize in both categories, Potatoes: 1st prize

The winning coffee sponge got a bit hot in the sun and cream started to melt. The rhubarb and strawberry jam was also a winner. A taste sensation. The apple cake was made with apples from the allotment orchard.
